Ramadan is a month of endless blessings: it’s the month of fasting, the month of al Quran and the month of Qiyam. This is also a month of compassion for those living in hardship where everyday is a continuous struggle to get hold of the minimum of the basic necessities. Sadaqah or charity is often that door that opens up suddenly, bringing a fresh air of relief when all doors are closed. It’s an amazing way that Allah (SWT) honors those who donate by using them to channelize His provisions through them to others.
Allah (SWT) is Ar-Razzak the all Provider, yet He allows some of His chosen servants to be a part of this honorable process of distribution of provisions. No wonder that charity is an inseparable highly encouraged part of Islam: sensitivity to the pain of the less fortunate is reflected through charity adorned with compassion. Our beloved Prophet (SAW), being the most-tender hearted and the most compassionate towards fellow beings emphasized this in his numerous sayings some of which are:
Charity in Ramadan is a matchless blessing from Allah (SWT) to the Muslims as His appreciation and rewards are multiplied many fold compared to charity in other months. Allah (SWT) has subtle ways of showing His appreciation: He allows us to see the priceless spark of happiness in the eyes of the less fortunate that our charity brings even before He grants us His rewards in this life and in the hereafter.
